Stage Worthy Nails - are your nails a distraction?

Pageant Nails - what to do and what not to do when it comes to competing in a pageant:

Nails are that little detail that make a big difference.  When it comes to nails for your upcoming pageant, there are a lot of opinions, but in my personal experience, I believe that nails should be that thing that no one notices.

Let me explain.

Pin me, share me, post me so you can remember what to do with your nails!

Imagine being in your interview and everything about you is on point.  Your hair is amazing, your interview outfit makes you feel confident and beautiful, your shoes are stylist AND comfortable, and you feel great about how you answered your questions and the way you connected with the judges.

Except, the judges were distracted by your nails. They keep staring at the bling or the white tips or worse yet, they keep trying to figure out the pattern that is on your nails and completely miss what you are saying in your interview.

(insert emoji that has his hands by his face and a big wide open mouth).

Now imagine being on stage, in your beautiful gown, posing like the queen that you are. You feel confident, beautiful, graceful, and are pleased with your performance on stage. And as you are standing there, confident and poised with your hand on your hip, the distraction of white little blotches at the end of your fingers are all that people notice.

Now, these little stories may (or may not) be exaggerations and worst-case scenarios. But I will tell you that it happens. Nails are those tricky little things that no one should notice or be distracted by. Kind of like a concert...you only notice the audio-visual when it goes bad, otherwise you are there enjoying the experience, not even thinking about the fact that there are lots of details that go into the production of an event like that.

You feel me girl?

Again, this is just my observation and personal opinion as a pageant competitor as well as having been a pageant judge multiple times, so take it or leave it.  I think nude colored nails are the way to go. They elongate your fingers, and go unnoticed (which is a good thing). But hey, if you are all about the white tips or the bling or the color, as long as you feel amazing, then girl, you do you boo and feel free to never read this post again =)

Here are a few examples of nails and WHAT NOT TO DO: (notice how they are a distraction)?

So, as you can see, nude nails win in all areas.  Feel free to bling them out in your everyday life and enjoy the art you can carry with you at your fingertips (ha! see what I did there) ;)  But for pageant competition, stick with the nails that don't distract and that go unnoticed because it's your beautiful face and charming personality that we want to accentuate and not distract from.
